Ectopic Pregnancy


What is Ectopic Pregnancy?
Ectopic means 'out from the normal place'. Ectopic Pregnancy is the pregnancy occur outside of the female uterus (womb). About 1% of the pregnancies are at ectopic position. It happens at the fallopian tube, ovary, servix and abdomen. But most of the time (~98%) of the ectopic implantation occur at the tube. One can also call it as 'tubal prenancy'.

The chances of getting a ectopic pregnancy is higher in in-vitro fertilization patients compare to one who is natural conceive. The early signs are pain at the lower abdomen, surgery need to be done to remove the tube plus the fetus.
